Situated on 100 Oxford Street, London, the venue is seriously steeped in the history of every genre of music be it jazz, rock, punk, reggae, soul, hip-hop, indie and beyond.
It is also London’s longest running independent music venue, having first been established in 1942 - later named the 100 Club in 1964. This was soon followed by an invasion of some of the finest American Blues artists (including Muddy Waters, Albert King, Bo Diddley and B.B. King) further cemented by the burgeoning British Blues and Beat Scene, with residency deals with The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The High Numbers (who famously became The Who).
1976 saw the first ever Punk festival (The Punk Special) with the unsigned acts including the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Buzzcocks just some of an incredible line-up. Over the next few years the 100 Club forcefully carried the flag for the Punk scene.
And the club managed to re-invent itself many times over the subsequent years; the 80s saw South African Jazz flourish, and the early 90s saw landmark performances from the likes of Suede, Echobelly and Oasis.
Macroeconomic pressure and soaring rents created an untenable situation in 2010, threatening the venue with closure. With a campaign to save the club helped by support from the likes of Mick Jagger, Liam Gallagher, Mick Jones and Bobby Gillespie, topped by a legendary intimate lunchtime performance by Paul McCartney, it eventually led to a renegotiation of the rent with the landlord—the club’s independence was preserved and the club has thrived as an important part of the London musical scene since then.
2026 - what a year… so far!

2026 has so far been an incredible year for Australian rocker, Cassidy Paris.
Touring the UK during May, June and July, both as headline and as support (see my review of her support set at the Tuk Smith July gig at the Leeds Key Club), as well as a festival appearance (Maid Of Stone), Cassidy continued to capitalise on the headwind that her second album from 2025, Bittersweet, had garnered.
The album itself built well on her debut New Sensation (2023), the strong brew of 80s inspired heavy, but melodic rock and metal fronted by her strong vocal and dynamic stage presence, saw her gain a significant foothold in a crowded genre.

The 100 Club date marked a brief return to the UK, paired with an appearance at the Cornwall Rocks festival on 2nd October, as she prepares to make her way over to Brazil for an eleven date headline tour across October.
There was no doubting the significance of the 100 Club appearance to Cassidy and her band, a major calling card to herald her ‘arrival’ onto a well-trodden but wider, more illustrious stage, set to make people sit up and take notice.

Support act, Star Circus, also have a good pedigree in the sphere of 70s and 80s rock and metal and the four-piece exhibit a melodic edge to their punchy guitar driven songs.
Formed in 2019, the London based band is led by Dave Winkler and Sophie Aurelia Young with guitarist Santiago Periotti and drummer Reuben O’Donoghue making up the current lineup of the quartet.

Second album From The Wreckage, featured heavily in their hour long setlist, showcasing their blend of influences from Queen, Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard and ELO.
The 100 Club date represented a stop off for the band on its Destiny’s Door UK tour which carries on into October and is well worth checking out.

A Platform For Success: Cassidy Paris
9.05pm and Cassidy Paris, draped in an Australian flag, and her band hit the stage of a packed, expectant and vibrant 100 Club.
The set immediately combusts, an incendiary version of “Walking On Fire” virtually scorches the clapping hands of those crowded at the front of the stage, as Cassidy stalks out her territory in trademark fashion.

Drafting her dad and founding member of Australian rock band, Wicked Smile, Steve Janevski, on guitar duties, adds further fuel to her band which also consists of Ian Nash (guitar), Fred Hale (bass) and Pete Newdeck (drums) who lay down a rock steady groove for Cassidy’s vocal theatrics to sparkle over.

As things quickly hit their stride—Cassidy, decked in schoolgirl Britney rock-chic attire, schooled the audience drawing on a curriculum drawn from both of her albums. Highlights of the set included “Stronger”, “Butterfly” lifted from Bittersweet, an amazing cover of Danger Danger song “I Still Think About You”, the stone cold classics “Danger” and “Midnight Desire” from New Sensation just a few of the sonic delights in the set.
It was relentless, captivating and powerful, every song hitting home with surefire precision.

Despite being perched on some sparkly, studded platform heeled boots, Cassidy parades around the stage never once stumbling—her elevation both on stage and in the wider sense of her ascendency into the rock pantheon certainly shows no sign of faltering, as she doesn’t put a foot wrong across the entire evening.

Bringing the evening to a close with the epic and seemingly highly apt cover of W.E.T.’s “Watch The Fire”, Cassidy finishes what she started—with the steadfast confidence of an artist living out her destiny, and loving every second of it.

In a room jam-packed with framed photographs of many of the legends that have graced its stage, there is surely a compelling need to make space for a new one.

Not Putting A Foot Wrong

This was not just simply a one-off performance, or a convenient stop-off, mid-journey.
What we were privileged to witness in the dark settings of a venue that has seen more than its fair share of legendary performances, was so much more than that.
It was a statement of significant intent.
Loud and crystal clear.
Cassidy Paris pretty much took a sledge hammer and chiselled her name into the stonework of the 100 Club with a performance of some swagger, confidence and total relevance, impeccably backed by a turbocharged band.
Without putting a platformed-heel foot wrong, she’s most definitely also stamping her name into the rock hall of fame with an unstoppable force.
She’s here to stay.
Cornwall, Brazil you’ve been warned…
