SWINGIN’: Alice Faye’s new single, “Vaudevillain”

In advance of her first ever album, Vaudevillain, Alice Faye released her new single, also called “Vaudevillain” on 16th October 2026

Ta-dah…Vaudevillain

The new single marks somewhat of a sonic explosion for the Scottish singer-songwriter and BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year 2026. Known for her introspective and acoustic focused songs, Alice well and truly turns up the dial on “Vaudevillain”, which mines an insistent and memorable 60s flavoured beat across the entirety of its 2 minutes and 35 seconds.

A vaudevillain is a caricature from 19th-century variety shows, defined by showmanship, over-the-top antics, and comedy.

Alice inhabits such a persona as the song blasts its way out of the speakers. With a sound almost begging to be captured, taken into a bedroom and funnelled through a transistor radio for added authenticity, it locks into a vibe that transmits splinters of 60s shrapnel like confetti across the airwaves.

With reference points including “Hippy Hippy Shake”, “Real Wild Child”, “Great Balls Of Fire” and many of the vibrant classics of yesteryear you could aim a dart at, it manages to both add a fresh sheen to a familiar vintage sound, whilst channelling the showmanship Alice embraces.

The result is a whooping, charming and fun single that deserves a wide audience.

The song is written by Alice, who performs vocals, keys, acoustic guitars and percussion and it also features Lewis Docherty on electric guitars, Richard Anderson on Bass and Chris Dickie on drums. George Miller, Bill Gill and Ronan Breslin produced, mixed and mastered the track.

It’s a massively catchy, gem of a song that Alice, resplendent in shimmering cocktail dress, bops and jives whilst shaking out her silver.

But don’t take my word for it, check out the video, directed by Delilah Rose Niel, below.

For My Next Trick…

Well, well, well, what a teaser for the new album.

Alice’s new album is due for release on 2nd April 2027 and, if it is anything like the new single, it will be very worthy of exploration.

As Alice explains “It’s set within a cabaret world, I hope to take you on a journey of romance, late music-fuelled nights and frivolity”.

In the meantime, Alice has the following tour dates coming up too—make sure you check her out!
