SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS: Lexi Cline’s New Single “Cowboy Survivor”

For an emerging artist that I’ve charted for some time, I was delighted to see a new single (and the fabulous news of a new album) recently grace my social media timeline.

Lexi Cline is Denver-born but Nashville-based where she is making a splash in the world of country music with her brand of honest and confessional songwriting matched to a killer voice and razor-sharp band.

Having built a loyal fan community known as The Brigade, Lexi has spent the past year turning heads with a number of single releases including "Cowgirls Are More Fun," "Planting Daisies," "Small Town Lover," "Let's Drink," "Talk of the Town," and "Shotgun Baby". She has opened for The Castellows, recorded at Coke Studios in Los Angeles, and landed multiple songs on the Spotify Pulse Charts in Houston, including a Number One with "Cowgirls Are More Fun."

As Lexi notes:

“I am from Denver, CO and spent two years in Nashville focusing on music and songwriting before moving to LA... I recently moved back to Nashville in March and am so excited to be back in this town... I love telling stories and utilizing my vocals to write personable, relatable, and catchy songs. I want people to feel seen and know they’re not alone.”

It is patently clear that the momentum is building and her new single, “Cowboy Survivor” capitalises on the traction her artistic talent has already established.

SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS: The New Single “Cowboy Survivor”

16th October 2026 saw Lexi Cline release her new single “Cowboy Survivor”. It follows her excellent recent singles “Small Town Lover,” “Shotgun Baby,” and “Talk of the Town” and beautifully paves the way for her forthcoming new album Cowboy Survivor.

Scratch the surface of the new single, lavishly sprayed with the sheen of modern country-pop, and you’ll uncover the grit of a song grounded in the school of hard knocks and defiantly picking yourself up. It’s full of big-hearted spirit—our protagonist emerges stronger and wiser, still true to herself as she takes a cowboy boot-clad step into a brave new future.

The song’s Americana/ Country themed sonic construction weaves its own magic and underpins the small-town storytelling of “Cowboy Survivor”. Armed with an on-point and totally zoned-in band of musicians, the song’s hooks grab the listener from the get-go. Whilst steeped in a country vibe, the song—anchored with its drum crashes—grants Lexi’s wonderfully delivered vocal free rein to majestically inhabit and walk around the song’s narrative.

Think the pop-country fusion of Maren Morris or the candid introspection of Miranda Lambert and it’s a good touchpoint for the company Lexi’s music drinks with.

“I’m a cowboy survivor, I should get a medal for all you put me through.”
— "Cowboy Survivor", Lexi Cline (written by Kyle Ward, Lexi Cline, Paulina Ella Levitan)

“Cowboy Survivor” has a lot to say but says it incredibly well—the memorable chorus is itself a survivor as it invades your headspace!

The single chisels itself into the Cline bedrock, sets the tone and whets the appetite for the new album and at North of Here I’m privileged to have an advance copy of this which I will be delighted to be reviewing over the next week or so.

Stay tuned for my review of what promises to be both a landmark recording for Lexi Cline and a key 2026 Americana release.
