WAYPOINTS: The Tide and Tap, Morecambe

A relatively new addition to Morecambe’s craft bar scene, having being established in June 2025, I visited The Tide and Tap on a Sunday afternoon, during a walk from Carnforth to Morecambe.
Situated on Marine Road East (439 Marine Road), the bar is nearer the Bare Lane Train Station and is approximately 25-30 minutes walk into Morecambe and the main railway station.
It replaced the former Blue Mountain restaurant, a long standing establishment, with much loved owners Allan and Krissy Kent running it between 1992 and 2015 (it eventually closed in 2024).
Craft Beer, Pieminister Pies, and Local Vibe
Roll forward to 2025 and Steven Shepherd and Jennie Chapman took the plunge and decided to create a community themed space underpinned by indie cask and keg craft beer, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
There is a good range of alcohol free drinks too.

The Transformation from Blue Mountain to Tide and Tap
“A man walks into an (ornate wooden) bar”
The venue was given a complete revamp, stripping things right back and most impressively rebuilding the bar using an ornate wooden surround believed to be from Heysham Hall (see below) in addition to an eclectic and funky mix of furniture.
There is even a tribute to Blue Mountain owner, Allan Kent (who passed away in 2020, with a chair backed with “In memory of Allan”, a touching nod to the venue’s heritage.

In addition to liquid refreshment, the bar offers an exquisite range of Pieminister pies, again emphasising the independent and family run ethos.
The place was packed both inside and outside (there is an area to the front of the bar with views of the Bay) and there was a great friendly buzz to the place, certainly helped by Jennie and the accommodating team running the place.
Live Sunday music at The Tide and Tap, Morecambe (Image: Damien Wilkinson)
Sunday afternoon saw some live music, local guitarist Tom Woods, well know to many of the locals, and was very well received by a lively (and dancing) crowd!
Flyers dotted around noted the weekly Monday night quiz, which helps raise funding for St John’s Hospice.

Getting There: A Scenic Walk from Carnforth
Although slightly on the outskirts of Morecambe, being nearer Hest Bank and the Bare area, it’s a cracking addition to Morecambe’s social scene and I’m already looking forward to repeat visits on subsequent walks around the area.
Indeed it’s a great stop off point walking in or out of Morecambe.
Further details of activities can be found @tideandtap on Instagram.
The bar opens 7 days a week 12pm to 10pm (Sunday is 12pm to 8pm).
