Through the vehicle Altarviolet, Colorado Springs based Greta Hotmer builds on a career in music creating cinematic, emotionally resonant music for film, television, and trailer placement.

Albums such as 2021’s Sojourn, Tired Wild Hearts from 2024 and the more recent Into The Woods, represent a body of moody and atmospheric compositions drenched in emotion.

With a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a black belt in Krav Maga in addition to master’s degree in herbalism and integrative nutrition, Greta also offers a truly holistic package with a difference.

BROTHERS IN ARMS: The Midnight Movie Club

Despite currently being on either side of the Atlantic Ocean, The Midnight Movie Club represents an experimental songwriting project of the Nowakowski brothers, Nova and Tom.

David ‘Nova’ Nowakowski, the Bradford-born musician turned American Daytime TV presenter cut his musical teeth with band Scars on 45, before branching out and hosting the American FOX21 daytime TV show, Loving Living Local, which raised his profile significantly.

In addition to his freelance host and event emceeing he also is a co-owner of the Brit Food Group founding the Brit Pub in Colorado Springs, which recently celebrated its first year anniversary.

Tom Nowakowski, who is Bradford based, is a key member of the band The Good Citizens, a three-piece covers band who play the local Yorkshire scene and also contributed “Take Me Home, Midland Road” the well-known official Bradford City AFC anthem.

The new collaboration sees Nova return to music and as he explains further:

“This venture brings together talented artists from around the globe, each contributing diverse genres, unique vocals, and a fresh perspective on music, presented in an unconventional way.”

HAND-IN-HAND: That’s The Way

“That’s The Way” is a lilting but uplifting song.

It takes the atmospheric palette of Altarviolet and adds the pop sheen gloss and songwriting chops the Nowakowski brothers are all too familiar with.

Greta Hotmer’s assured and crystal clear vocal drips with emotion across the track as its piano and vibrant bassline pick out an insistent melody, which contains sonic shades of Bruce Hornsby’s similarly titled “The Way It Is”.

“Pick me up when I’m down, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

With a running time of just over three minutes the impeccably produced single is perfectly poised for significant radio airplay.

It is also clear that the collaboration with Greta Hotmer is an inspired choice for the song and represents a strong start for Nova and Tom’s new project.
